In case you haven't heard by now, Nissan recently announced that they took a stock GTR back to the Nurburgring earlier this month to see if they could improve on the already stellar time of 7:38 set last year on a slightly damp track. This time, on a dry track and equipped with stock Japanese market tires, the GTR ripped off an amazing 7:29 lap at the hands of Nissan test driver Tochio Suzuki.
The original time topped cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini Murcielago, and Mercedes SLR. The new best time for the GTR is faster than the Porsche GT2, Koenigsegg CCR, and Mercedes SLR 722. In fact, that new time of 7:29 is the third fastest time ever by a production car, right behind the Porsche Carrera GT and the Pagani Zonda F.
Tell me this isn't the best performance car value of the century at $70,000. That is if you can get your hands on one for that price. Even at twice that price it's a bargain compared to most of the cars that it's spanking. Can't wait to see what the GTR V-SPEC's official time is when it comes out.
