Yeti let loose in Spain

After years of concepts, prototypes and leaked information, Skoda's new compact SUV has been spied in Southern Spain. Previous mules were shortened Skoda Fabia wagons with a raised ride height.

Underneath the grey cover lies a red pre-production prototype. Through the camouflage, it is easy to make out the top radiator grille which should give the Yeti a car-like look. Large headlamps will take over the face, although we can expect the concepts front fog-lamps to be moulded by the headlamps. The side profile will take hints off the Yeti concepts and the Roomster MPV.

Mechanical components will come off the hot-selling Tiguan SUV. AWD and 4Motion will be optional on the Yeti, otherwise power will go to the front wheels.

A world premier for the production model was expected at last months London motorshow, however, expect to see the newcomer mid-2009.
