Back in December 2007, we were talking for the first time about the possibility to see, in the next years, a Mercedes-Benz SUV model based on the second generation B-Klasse.
The B-Klasse-based compact SUV would compete with the upcoming BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

In August 2008, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that the company is working hard to develop and entirely change the next generations of the A- & B-Klasse models. The officials somehow hinted that a possible SUV under the B-Klasse badge would take shape somewhere in 2012. A possible name for the new Merc was also suggested in articles all over the internet:BLK-Klasse.
