New saftey car regulations will be tested at French Grand Prix

With all of the problems over the pit lane closures during a safety car period of a Formula 1 race. The FIA has proposed new safety car regulations that will be tested during a practice session at the French Grand Prix on June 21. The test was originally scheduled to happen during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, but was pushed back due to the FIA wanting the teams to test new software.

The system will use the ECU of each car and monitor the speed and will somewhow prevent the drivers from going to fast and that will be able to keep the pit lane to stay open through caution periods. The system will also send a message to the drivers telling them that the saftey car is out and will have them acknowledge the period by simply pressing a button.

The test comes a little late considering that the teams are in Canada this weekend for a race that is known to be quite a wreckfest.
