Marc Gene okay after huge shunt at Le Mans

Peugeot driver Marc Gene was hospitalized Sunday after this huge crash during the test day for the 24 hours of Le Mans coming up in a few weeks:

Gene only suffered a fractured toe, but thought the result of the crash was going to be much worse. "The truth is that I didn't think I would survive the accident," he said on his personal website. "This has been, without a doubt, the biggest crash of my career and it was a miracle that I walked away.

"I just want to thank Peugeot for building a car that saved my life. Now I'm only thinking about recovering and being ready for the race. We face a great challenge to rebuild the car but I trust Peugeot, who have supported me a lot since the accident."

Gene expects to be ready for qualifications for the great endurance race next Wednesday.
