Change at the Top of Daimler Communications

Stuttgart, Jun 06, 2008 - The Board of Management of Daimler AG has taken the following personnel decisions:
Hartmut Schick (46), since January 2002 Head of Global Communications of Daimler AG, will take over a new executive position within the operative business of the group. His new position will be announced shortly.


Prior to the career change to communications Schick, who is a graduate engineer, was active as Chief of Staff for the Chairman of the Board of Management. From 1997 to 1999, he built up the Mercedes-Benz Plant in Juiz de Fora, Brazil. After completing his studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, from 1986 onwards he was active in the areas of research, production and marketing at Daimler-Benz AG.

Schick�s successor as Head of Global Communications at Daimler AG will be J�rg Howe (50), currently Director of Corporate Communications at Arcandor AG (formerly KarstadtQuelle AG) in Essen, effective as of November 1, 2008. Howe will report to the Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, and in his new function will have global responsibility for the external and internal communications of the company.

Howe has been Director of Corporate Communications of KarstadtQuelle/Arcandor since 2004. Before that he had been active as Chief Editor of the television station Sat.1 since 1996. After completing his studies in history and Anglistics at the University of Hamburg, the Hamburg-born Howe worked at the radio station Norddeutsche Rundfunk for five years, which included a two-year stint as department manager of the daily news program, Tagesschau. Subsequently, he was active as reporter and head of news services at Sat.1. In 1994, Howe changed over to MDR television, where he became deputy chief editor and later Programming Manager for the family and daily news program. In 1996 he returned to Sat. 1 as Chief Editor.
