Lancia Plans for Future

Includes SUV, CoupeCabrio and Sports Car

Lancia is headed for an important year with the production launch of their new Lancia Delta at this year's Geneva Motor Show. The five-door hatchback was first revealed as the Delta HPE Concept at the 2006 Geneva show and will be based on the Fiat Bravo platform. The Lancia Delta will be a more luxurious Fiat Bravo, with more interior room (the Bravo platform will be stretched) and leather / Alcantara interior.

Dutch car magazine AutoVisie reports that other projects for the Italian brand include an SUV and Coupe Cabriolet, for both projects a decision whether they will make it to production is expected to be made later this year. Maybe more interesting is the fact that Lancia is secretly working on initial plans for a sports car la Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The next generation Lancia Ypsilon is also scheduled for this year, it will be available as a three and five-door.

The Lancia Thesis on the other hand will be axed at the end of its life-cycle in 2010.
