HUMMER Adventure 2008 in Morocco

Today General Motors-owned HUMMER announced the 2008 HUMMER Adventure trip to Morocco, giving European Hummer owners the chance to "get to know the Moroccan desert in a special way" in their very own Hummer, whether it be the H1, H2 or the H3. The 2008 adventure is Hummer's expanded sequel to the adventure in 2004 that took a group of French Hummer owners on a desert trip to Tunisia.

Starting on May 11, 2008 at the Moroccan port of Tangiers the Hummer adventure will take 70 participants on a seven-day 2,500 km route through "challenging terrain, from sand roads and desert to fordable rivers and mountain slopes" after which the adventure will return to Tangiers on May 18.

The entry fee of 5,500 euros is essentially an all inclusive package, covering "accomodation in luxury hotels, all meals and drinks, crossing from Spain to Morocco, and medical and technical support," on top of which all participants get to enjoy an off-road course on the sand dunes of Merzouga. Sounds definitely like a unique experience to take your Hummer to the limit.

If you're planning on going, Hummer recommends you take an extra fuel can and a few showels with you. Just for show?

Press Release

HUMMER Adventure 2008 in Morocco Announced

In May 2008 European HUMMER drivers can get to know the Moroccan desert in a special way in their own HUMMER H1, H2 or H3. Entries to this event can be made via the website www.hummeradventure2008.com. In total 70 HUMMERS can participate.

Four years ago the first HUMMER Adventure was held for French HUMMER drivers; the adventure has now expanded into a European event. From 11 to 18 May 2008 HUMMER drivers can put their vehicle to the test in Morocco under challenging conditions.

2,500 kilometres of adventure

The HUMMER Adventure begins and ends in the Moroccan port of Tangiers and will tackle the most challenging terrain, from sand roads and desert to fordable rivers and mountain slopes. The total route covers 2,500 km.

Participation in the HUMMER Adventure costs 5,500.00 per car with two people. This includes accommodation in luxury hotels, all meals and drinks, crossing from Spain to Morocco, and medical and technical support. Participants will also be provided with GPS to help them find their way in the desert. On day three the drivers will enjoy a spectacular off-road course in the sand dunes of Merzouga.

The reconnaissance has been done with a standard HUMMER, so basically every HUMMER can participate without problems. However the organisers recommend taking amongst others an extra fuel can and a couple of sand shovels to dig out the car.
