Busch Takes The Truck Series

You cant blame Kyle Busch for feeling good about winning this years Craftsman Truck Series at the Auto Club Speedway held in Fontana, California. Victory was sweet for him, especially since Busch couldve done it last 2001 had he not been kicked out of the race when was 16, due to a federal law prohibiting persons under 18 from joining an event sponsored by tobacco companies. That company was Marlboro, who was also sponsoring a CART event during the same weekend.

Now returning as a 22-year old, Busch ended up defeating Todd Bodine to capture the championship. This marked the first time that Busch, nicknamed Rowdy, raced in a truck in the Auto Club Speedway since his attempt to join last 2001.

Bodine led the race from Lap 58 to Lap 75 until a cloud cover hampered the handling of his truck, causing it to tighten up. That would put a stop to his lead and enabled Busch to take the lead at Lap 76. Busch didnt look back from there and went on to take the lead in the final 10 laps. Bodine attempted to take back the lead but the scuffed tires placed in his truck during the last pit stop prevented him from doing so.

This means the most to me than anything, said Busch of his win this year, In this race in 2001, I was kicked out of the racetrack. I probably could have sat on the pole and won the race that day.

You cant blame the kid for feeling this way. If he did race last 2001, there couldve been a big possibility that he wouldve come home with the championship.
