Every time I hear something that involves Mexico or anything Mexican, I just cant help but remember the late great Eddie Guerrero. His wrestling gimmick, which involves his "lie, cheat and steal" antics never fails to make me chuckle every time I get to watch him. That and his World Championship reign pretty much made him a household name. But it wasnt always this good for him. Before he got to the top, he had to work his way up, just like everybody else. What Im getting at here is that, to be able to establish yourself and cement your legacy, you need to work your butt off. Based on its track record, theres possibility that NASCAR Mexico could be "pulling off an Eddie Guerrero."
The NASCAR Mexico Series has been running for five straight seasons and has garnered a following from its native Mexican fans. It boasts a load of talented drivers from Mexico vying to be the series top race car driver. Due to its increasing popularity, The NASCAR Mexico Series is now starting to enjoy wide coverage from media units and has been able to attract different sponsors for the race.
For this season, the biggest change is having the format revamped from being a non-points race to being a points-based race. There will be a total of 14 races which will take place in different venues in Mexico ranging from the Queretaro Autodrome, the Chiapas Autodrome, the Aguascalientes Autodrome, Bernardo Obregon Autodrome, the Miguel E. Abed Autodrome, Potosino Oval, the Monterrey Autodrome, the Zacatecas Autodrome and the Hermanos Rodriguez Autodrome course. 11 out of the 14 races will be done in oval tracks.
Last year, the NASCAR Mexico Series was won by Rafael Martinez at Mexico City by defeating Germain Quiroga. Look for Martinez to try to repeat again and for the other drivers to stop him from pulling it off.
