F1 Suzuka - Hamilton awarded a five-place grid penalty for gearbox change
Latest news coming from the Japanese track state that McLaren-Mercedes's driver Lewis Hamilton has received a five-place grid penalty in tomorrow's race due to the fact that the team engineers have decided to replace the Briton's car gearbox with a brand new one amid discovering fearful abnormalities during the technical inspection conducted today, problems which may crucially affect the proper functioning of this unit. This is certainly an extra setback for Lewis, who is facing a tough weekend at Suzuka, after seriously damaging his single-seater in a sidewall crash on Friday, during FP1, which also led him see the new front wing destroyed. As the team has got no spare one, Hamilton will be forced to compete with the old item instead, as Button's car will obviously retain the update.
