Well, we have very strict rules about that," says Brian Ferrin, owner of an immaculate 1970 Mustang and today's spokesman for the Historics. "If you touch another car you lose your racing licence for the next 13 months." But surely that must limit the true racing. "No," he says. "Our races are in no way a procession. It's just that there's nothing we can do to change or improve the history of each of the cars, so we just race them as hard as we can without making contact."
Talking to the guys it's clear winning is not their goal as they've already won by being the owner/driver of one of these comic book hero cars. They've got nothing to prove and neither do the cars. So they just relive the dream one day and one ground-shaking lap at a time... with earplugs in, of course.
