The Lipstick Art Car is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe embellished with kisses and other items installed solely in celebration of lipstick. Minneasota artist Patti Paulson created the car in 2010. During parades, Patti leaves her mark when she "lays the smack down" on the crowd to the beat of well known kissing songs blaring from her radio.

Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
For about twenty years of El Camino, which use to be Oh so famous basically extinct and you rarely ever see one except those living in the countryside somewhere. Although the new 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck will not have official tags and seals of the El Camino, looks very similar in style other than it be a more modern look. Pontiac is revealed during the 2009 New York International Auto Show and will be the long awaited entry into the market for some old-timers collectors out there, I can guarantee that.
This trucks will be powered by a 6.0 liter V8 engine and good will can solid 361HP output. For truck, 361HP is not bad, although it could be a little better. This is definitely going to fly on the open road and how to make it appear somewhat aerodynamically designed. It will only have a choice of six-speed automatic transmission, so if you want to manually you should be satisfied with the automatic, at least temporarily. Trucks can hit 0-60mph in just around 5.4 seconds which is about half a second faster then most sports cars on the market today. GM has done a lot of tweaks to sport truck to get it prepared for the market and they have done a great job with this model and you will see a good results.
The G8 will be able to carry more than 1000 pounds on the back of the truck and also to attract around 3,500, which means you can drag quite a bit with the sport truck. You would not think the appearance that it will be strong like that but made to be able to perform like other trucks while at the same time maintaining sports feel to it.

19 Donk Cars Covered in Candy Paint
| Some time ago I posted a video about a cars covered in Cheetos and Doritos vinyl graphics, and the other day I found the ultimate Facebook car called a "Donk". I got some grief over it because one of my art car friends did not think it was considered an "art car". For me its a unique form of expression that deserves some face time here on Art Car Central. They also look like a lot of fun to drive around in so I managed to find 19 top corporate brand covered cars with famous cereal, snack and drink names. These "hi-riser" or "sky-scrapers" cars have gigantic rims ranging from 22" to 30"and extremely high ground clearance that resemble urban 4x4's, are called "Donks". The term "Donk" came from the impala symbol on any Chevy impala from the year 1971 to 1976, because the symbol looked like a "donkey". It became popular in the south to cover these cars with name brands using vinyl car wrap technology. The most popular type of car used are Chevrolet models, namely the Impala, Caprice, Monte Carlo, and Chevelle. Other models that are frequently made into hi-risers include the G-body Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass, El Camino, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Pontiac Bonneville. So for your sweat tooth, cereal and salty snack enjoyment, I present to you 19 tasty Donk car treats. | ||

Two Video: Reborn Trans Am makes fire-breathing entrance in Dayton

Few Pontiac models will be missed by as many people as the Trans Am. From its humble origins in 1969 as an option package on the two-year-old Firebird platform through the Super Duty days and the Bandit Special Editions, right on up to the final Ram Air LS1-powered F-Bodies from 2002, Pontiac's longest-lived muscle car has always enjoyed a loyal following.
So dedicated are these Poncho fanatics that the Trans Am name seems destined to live on past the death of the brand that originally spawned it. We've taken a look at Kevin Morgan's Phoenix TA revival once already, and now the first such Camaro-based machine has been driven off the car carrier in front of a few hundred screaming chickens fans at last weekend's 25th Anniversary Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio.
Perhaps fittingly, this initial 'bird was painted up in a classic black and gold paint scheme complete with a fire-breathing hood applique and a split front beak reminiscent of the 1977 and 1978 Trans Ams. Naturally, there's a shaker scoop mounted atop the quivering hood feeding fresh air into what we assume is a stock LS3 6.2-liter V8 putting out 426 horsepower. The only things that are missing are T-Tops and a CB radio. Well, that, and a young Sally Field.

Three versions of John DeLorean biopic in the works
Whether it's for the quirky but ultimately flawed stainless-steel DeLorean DMC-12, his legacy as the developer of the Pontiac GTO, or his role behind the scenes at Packard and General Motors, John DeLorean will be remembered as one of the 20th Century's most influential automotive personalities. And that legacy will soon be captured on film, thanks to a trio of competing projects.

The front-runner is a movie by Time Studios and XYZ Films, announced Tuesday by The Daily Variety, reports AFP. It's the only one to get a pledge of cooperation from DeLorean's friends and family, making it the most likely to contain the authentic version of events.
XYZ Films is comparing the story line to that of Citizen Kane, which also tells the tragic story of an American entrepreneur.

DeLorean's story became mired in drug trafficking charges later in his life, and though he ultimately won that batle, the controversy remains. Bankruptcy and the failure of his own short-lived DeLorean Motor Company also complicate the telling of DeLorean's life epic.
As a sort of posthumous homage to DeLorean's DMC-12 design, a Texas company has taken over the DeLorean Motor Company name and is now building recreations of the iconic gullwing.

Burying the Dead: Pontiac G8 faces recall over faulty taillamps, tire-pressure sensors

General Motors may have already buried its Pontiac division, but the brands recent passing isnt stopping a posthumous recall campaign by the automaker and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The action, which covers some 35,038 Pontiac G8 sedans from the 2008 and 2009 model years, stems from two potential issues:

1) The brake pedal position switch may be incorrectly programmed, which NHTSA says could lead to the brake lamps operating in a constant state of illumination, leaving trailing motorists unable to tell whether the G8 driver ahead of them is stepping on the binders or not. The defective taillamps could therefore contribute to an accident.

2) In another programming issue, certain G8s make have tire pressure monitoring systems loaded with incorrect values, which could result in the system failing to identify under-inflated tires, potentially leading to reduced handling abilities and/or tire failure.

According to NHTSA, Pontiac dealers will reprogram the brake position sensor and the remote control door lock receiver to remedy both issues. G8 drivers can expect the recall to begin by June 5, and anxious owners can call GM at 1-800-620-7668 to learn more. Thanks for the tip, Peter!

2011 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM by ASC: New Camaro-Based Proposal

We've seen some obnoxiously modified Rolls Royce cars but we think this Phantom Drophead Coupe with its Louis Vuitton outer skin and larger than life alloy rims is so vulgar that it deserves to be ranked amongst the worst. Goes to show you that bad taste has no limits nor boundaries, it knows no rules or classes...

2009 models lead NHTSA's latest recalls, including Mazda6, Town & Country, Ranger

Mazda will call back some 29,000 examples of its slippery new Mazda6 sedan for a potential door handle fault that could cause them to open without warning. According to Automotive News, the outside handle can cause the door to open as a result of an "inconsistent dimension combination" between the bracket and the handle (read: they don't line up properly).
The fix will involve replacing any/all door handles and/or brackets if they are found to be defective.

Pontiac Heading for SEMA with G8 GXP Street Concept, G8 ST Concept & Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

The G8 GXP concept will feature a GM Performance Parts crate engine fetchingly named the LSX454 - a 7.4 liter engine with 638 hp and 813 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This compares to the G8 GXP's factory-issue 6.2 liter V8 with 415 hp and 562 Nm (415 lb-ft) of cranking power borrowed from the Corvette.

The G8 ST concept is the El Camino of 2008. If 70s retro is your thing, then you might enjoy this low-rider, transport bedded version of the G8 ST concept. You can check out the press release for details but there is nothing remarkable except for the optics which you can see in the photo.

Third comes the Solstice GXP Coupe concept, with the same 2.0 liter, 260 hp Ecotec engine found in the factory model which this SEMA version here boosts to 290 hp with the addition of an air-intake performance kit. Here GM engages in some tuner styling worthy of seeing the streets.

car-evolutioncars.blogspot_Pontiac G3 Revealed for U.S. Market

This approachy may work in Europe and Asia, but it may take more time until American consumers come to embrace frugal cars with sporty looks.

Consistent with the sport orientated Pontiac brand, the G3 is wearing sporty attire, however, the G3 simultaneously fills an additional spot in Pontiac's "over 30 mpg" club which already includes the 2009 Vibe (32 mpg), 2009 G6 sedan (33 mpg) and G5 coupe (37 mpg) models. The G3 has a 106 horsepower (79 kW) 1.6L Ecotec four-cylinder engine which is mated to a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission.

Docherty continues, "More than ever, fuel economy is an important factor in Pontiac's formula of style and performance. The Vibe, G3, G5, and G6 prove that you don't have to sacrifice sporty design and responsive driving to achieve impressive fuel economy."

To the dismay of enthusiasts, the G3 signals GM's intentions to meet demand for the rapidly growing fuel efficient small car segment. Susan Docherty, vice president of Buick-Pontiac-GMC said, "The small car segment has literally exploded in recent months, with sales up nearly 33 percent in the first six months of 2008 alone. With its proven success in other markets, we felt the time was right to bring the G3 into the BPG portfolio for our U.S. customers."

As a sign of the times, Pontiac has announced the all-new downstream model, the G3, will arrive in U.S. showrooms by spring 2009. First revealed as the Pontiac Wave5 earlier this year for the Canadian market, the G3 is essentially a repackaged Daewoo Gentra, Holden Barina or Chevrolet Aveo5.More Photos
