Yamaha's Valentino Rossi won his 100th Grand Prix at the Alice TT Assen and thus became the second rider in the MotoGP history to score 100 wins after Giacomo Agostini who's considered to be the greatest MotoGP rider of all time with 122 wins. Rossi's team mate Jorge Lorenzo was forced to finish on second after competing and fighting up to the front, but this time he couldn't provide Rossi with the same challenge as he did in Barcelona.
Ducati's Casey Stoner completed the podium with a solitary ride chasing Lorenzo. Stoner now trails Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo in the riders standings after they had been level on points heading in to the Dutch Car Evolution.
At first, the Dutch Car Evolution gave the impression that it will be an entertaining one but after Honda's Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso crashed out while Lorenzo and Stoner dropped to second and third place respectively, Rossi was only racing by himself and beating his own lap times one lap after another.
