IMPORTANT:Mercedes-Benz recalls 404 units MY 2003-'09 in the USA

Mercedes-Benz is about to begin in August the recall of 404 models MY 2003-'09, including the recently refreshed SL- and SLK-Klasse. The problem found by engineers and filed in documents of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) involves a software problem that could mislead the driver by displaying wrong values for the fuel level indicator or speedometer, and also, could put passengers at risk in the event of an accident by stopping crash signal transmitting to the electric fuel pump, that may become unable to disconnect further fuel delivery to the engine.

The cars to be recalled are:the 2006-'08 M-Class and R-Class; the 2005-'09 SLK; the 2005-'08 C-Class; the 2003-'04 and 2006-'08 CLK-Class; the 2003-'08 E-Class; the 2004 and 2008 CL-Class; the 2008 CLS-Class; the 2004 and 2007-'08 S-Class; the 2003 G-Class and the 2003-'04, 2006 and 2009 SL-Class.

Note that the recalling operation is free of charge.
