Michael Schumacher likely to race for Mercedes GP in 2010
The German press reported yesterday that a deal between the 7-times world champion, Michael Schumacher, and the newly born F1 Team, Mercedes GP, is likelier now than ever before, as it comes out that the German driver has already given his verbal agreement on the subject.
For the contract to be signed, 2 main issues are compulsory:Schumi's signature and the doctors' approval. None of these should be a problem to achieve:Michael desperately wants to return to his great love, and, according to sources, he feels fit and healthy, so the positive medical advice could be in the pipe.
Moreover, it is said that an official announcement might be made as early as next week, thus contradicting initial statements by Norbert Haug and Nick Fry, who suggested that the name of the driver that is to to occupy the vacant seat at the team would be made public only at the beginning of 2010. Though the press speculated Mercedes's intention to offer Schumacher a 7 million euros for a contract, it has now come to light that the deal is worth half the initial price, with a provisional duration of 1 year.
Willi Weber, Michael Schumacher's manager, and Sabine Kehm, the spokesman, would not comment the rumours.
