Pemberton moves out of DEI

Crew Chief Ryan Pemberton and Joe Nemecheck

Crew chief Ryan Pemberton moves out from Dale Earnhardt, Inc. to serve as the crew chief for the No. 01 US Army Chevrolet, the stock car co driven by Mark Martin and Ragan Smith.

Pembertons career as crew chief has been an excellent one. Any team which he takes under his wing is assured of impressive race standings and good performance. In 2004, Pemberton scored his first ever win as a crew chief with driver Joe Nemechek. In 2006, the duo finished three positions better than they did in 2004. Pembertons adept coaching skills have not gone unnoticed. Hence, the reason for the big leap to being crew chief of the No. 01 US Army Chevrolet.

According to DEI general manager John Story, he believes that, Ryan (Pemberton) is immensely talented and has always been sought-after. He's now chosen to pursue some of those opportunities and we wish him nothing but the best.'

Doug Richert will replace Pemberton as crew chief. Richert, as his predecessor is, also boasts of an impressive resume. As a 20 year old crew chief, Richert raced with the late great Dale Earnhardt, Sr. in 1980. He is most remembered for being the youngest crew chief to win a Cup championship.
