RUMOR: Mercedes-Benz working on future small-sized city car
Mercedes-Benz will definitely not be left behind in the race to deliver the car that ensures the best mobility in the congestioned cities of the future. After BMW clearly stated that is hard at developing a entirely new, small-sized vehicle preliminary badged "MegaCity Vehicle", it now appears that the rival from Stuttgart has similar plans for the years to come. To be precise, Mercedes-Benz is silently mastering a 100% electrically-driven, 5-seater hatchback, extensively made up of carbon fiber and slightly bigger than the upcoming Smart ForFour. The responsibility for the project entitled "Mega City Mobility" has been handed over to the Mercedes-Benz Design Studio of Yokohama, whose staff, let's face it, have a difficult task: creating an attractive, yet practical and very compact model. Moreover, this tiny Merc must also be a pleasure to drive in terms of efficiency, dynamics, handling and safety. No matter whatever it takes to achieve these tough targets, we'll most likely see an impressive result when the new Three-Pointed Star city vehicle it's released. Still, there's a long wait ahead, as the car could hit streets in three to four years from now on.
