Starts at $229,000
McLaren has announced the MP4-12C will be priced from $229,000 (excluding a $2,400 delivery fee) when it goes on sale in the United States this summer.
While it certainly isn't cheap, the MSRP falls on the low side of previous estimates which suggested the car would cost between $225,000 and $250,000. Despite this, the MP4-12C is slightly more expensive than the Ferrari 458 Italia which starts at $225,325.
According to Antony Sheriff, the Managing Director of McLaren Automotive, "With the 12C's technologically advanced MonoCell carbon-fiber chassis, highly efficient yet powerful 3.8 liter 592 hp powerplant, a dry weight of less than 2,900 lbs., and every detail down to the switchgear bespoke to McLaren, we have achieved our performance and design objectives. We are extremely proud to be able to offer the 12C at a price that has not been realized by a carbon fiber-based vehicle before."
As you may recall, the MP4-12C features a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine with 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 mph).
