Illustration - 2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Klasse
In their latest issue, Autobild reveal the ultimate details about the secret plans of Mercedes-Benz regarding the future portfolio of small and compact models. The first of the series, the B-Klasse, which shall retain the MPV shape, will arrive this year at the IAA Frankfurt in September. One year later, the new A-Klasse 5-door hatchback (rendered above) is programmed for the official release on the market. Starting from this two basis variants, Mercedes-Benz will spawn an entire range of body versions, including a 4-door coupe, a 3-door hatch, a compact SUV tipped to wear the title BLK, a tourer in the form of a future CLC and God knows what's further to come. The new cars will be developed on the innovative Mercedes Frontwheel Architecture (MFA), that will be premiered on the 29th January at the special celebration event held at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, in Stuttgart. Renault will provide most of the engines (1.2 to 1.6 liters) which will power the new models, as part of the alliance with Daimler.
