Future Projects - 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLC Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz will become a tough contender in the niche cars segment in the years to come. Alongside the anticipated CLS Shooting Brake, which is to enter the market beginning with 2012, the Stuttgart-based constructor might also launch another similar model one year later in the form of the CLC Shooting Brake.

In 2013, today's ugly duckling CLC might become a beautiful swan, as Mercedes-Benz intends to completely rebrand and transform it in a very attractive and sporty wagon, with a pronounced coupe silhouette. According to sources, the project carries the X 117 internal designation. Outside, the new car will boast the new design philosophy of the carmaker, highlighting a very expressive front end, dominated by the aggressive-looking headlights and the generously-dimensioned radiator grille, a muscular side profile, with sophisticated, radical lines and surfaces, all of them toned down by a very elegant and mild rear end. The overall length will reach 4.4 meters, which will slot the car in the gap between the current CLC (4.2 meters) and the C-Klasse T-Modell (4.6 meters). Apart from the standard RWD version, the CLC Shooting Brake will also be offered in 4MATIC configuration with the addition of the All Terrain Package. The engine range will feature newly-developed units, beginning with a 1.2 l 109 hp Renault petrol powerplant on to the 2.2 l CDI 170 hp and 2.0 l CGI 204 hp engines up to the top-of-the-range AMG model, powered by a supercharged 4-cylinder units, capable of delivering a maximum output of over 270 BHP.
