I've got a very bad habit. I don't know why but I tend to leave my phone on my lap whenever I am in the car. I guess it saves me the trouble of struggling to reach for it in my pocket. This lead to me dropping my phone while I was getting out of the car. It happened twice already!
You don't realize it till you hear the phone hitting the concrete pavement with your battery cover, battery and phone itself flying off in all different directions and you go...
Dammit, I hate it when that happens!
Well, it happened to me again the other day.
It still hurt like hell to see the Nexus One kissing the pavement although it was no virgin when it came to the concrete floor. First time it slipped out of my hands was when I was handing it over to Johan and that gave it the first dent.
Despite these drops, the screen never cracked nor was it damaged. Only a hairline scratch can be seen on the lower right corner of the screen, and this was caused by my keys/jeans when I was removing it out from my pocket. Phone is still working and pretty much intact despite the scuff marks here and there.
I've learnt my lesson now and I've went ahead and gotten a new Google Nexus One housing replacement as well as a Google Nexus One Replacement Touch Screen. I also went ahead and got a Case-mate Barely There case in black which also comes with a screen protector so I don't thrash the new housing. I went with the Case-mate Barely There as I didn't want the case to add bulk or weight to the phone. Check out the short clip of it below.
Now it's just waiting for the parts to arrive before I try to do a swap myself. Yay!
