MERCEDES GP PETRONAS: New strategy for the next two years
In the most recent meeting of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, a new strategic, 2-year approach in Formula 1 has been adopted.
To be more precise, the budget for 2011 and 2012 will suffer a cut of about 10 percent, thus already pointing to the fact that almost 5 percent of the team's personnel is set to be dismissed. Moreover, Daimler officials have also studied the possibility of supplying engines to a fourth F1 team beginning with 2011, alongside Mercedes GP, McLaren and Force India. Red Bull Racing has the highest chance to use Mercedes-Benz motoring units next year. Last, but certainly not least, Mercedes-Benz will be more involved and committed to Formula 1 in 2011 and 2012, as an aggressive marketing, awareness and communication campaign will be launched in order to attract more fans and to improve the team's visibility in the competition.
