This may be the beginning of an interesting partnership between the two, long-time, Deutsch rivals, which could result in new cars and technologies developed together as to further reduce costs and pass safely over the financial crisis which hit hard in 2009. However, there seem to be some opponents to this strategy:Quandt family, who owns 46% of BMW, claims that, provided the partnership happens, in the next years, Daimler AG will make an offer to entirely buy the Bavarian carmaker, as in the case of Chrysler, in 1998.
