
Any time you spend $100,000 or more on a vehicle, it's clearly an emotional decision. It's hard to rationalize an expenditure of that magnitude on, say, a Bentley, when a Chevy Cobalt will get you to the grocery store just as easily.
Sure, it's not as fast or luxurious, but it handles the task. So if emotion drives high-dollar car purchases, the car needs to appeal to more than just practicality.
