Chinese built Qashqai
The Nissan Qashqai continues its quest to dominate the global crossover SUV market with the launch of the Chinese-built Nissan Xiaoke. Xiaoke roughly translates as nomad, a conscious choice by Nissan for their 'Urban Nomad'.
Qashqai will be an iconic model for our product lineup in China, contribute significantly to our brand image and deliver something completely new to customers, said Toshiaki Otani, Managing Director of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company.
The Chinese Xiaoke differs only slightly from the European Qashqai, the Chinese have changed the interior color from black to beige, modified the sunroof design and added a chrome strip to the side of the car.
Nissan's Huadu plant will build the Xiaoke and pricing will start at RMB 167,800 (USD 23,600) for the two-wheel-drive version while the four-wheel-drive Premium Grade costs RMB 219,800 (USD 30,100). Both models are powered by the 2.0 liter (MR20DE) gasoline engine which delivers 137 ps and is coupled to either an automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. Nissan is hoping to sell 3,000 units per month.
