No. 24 DuPont Crew wins the 2007 Pit Crew Championship

While Jimmie Johnson may have beat Jeff Gordon to the Nextel Cup Championship title, it was Gordons crew team that emerged victorious in the 2007 pit crew championship. Gordons No. 24 pit crew went head to head with No. 01 Mark Martins crew staff. Quoting sportsonline.com, Gordon's and Martin's crews ended the season with four wins apiece in the contest to have the fastest times during the races, with the No. 24 winning because of a higher finish in the Nextel Cup point standings. Gordon was second and part-time Cup driver Martin wound up 27th. The crew will split their $155,150 winnings amongst themselves.

Gordons crew team consists of jackman Jeff Cook, front tire carrier Mike "Tiny" Houston, front tire changer Clay Robinson, rear tire carrier Jeff Knight, rear tire changer Kevin Gilman, gasman Caleb Hurd, catch can man Jamie Frady and eighth man Andy Kruep. Pit crew coach Mike Clark, and Mike Atwell are also part of the team after they replaced Gilman in some of the races.

The No. 24 teams pit crew chief Steve Letarte is proud of his team, The No. 24 DuPont pit crew did an amazing job all year. They were consistently fast and didn't miss a beat when changes were made to the lineup due to injuries.

It is of utmost importance that a race car driver has an efficient pit crew team. Gordon, is really lucky to be blessed with that.
