The Nextel Cup has just ended and race car drivers and their crew pit have entered into what we call as the period of transition. Drivers may transfer race teams, change crew staff and change race cars. One such example of a racer making the move is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. The son of legendary racing great, Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Dale, Jr. will move out of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (the race team his father founded) to Hendrick Motorsports this 2008. But as Dale, Jr. leaves the Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) race team will still be left with formidable race car drivers. Among them are would be group leader Martin Truex, racing veteran Mark Martin, and rookies, Aric Almirola and Regan Smith.
The DEI racers seem happy with how things are playing out for each of their careers and how it contributes to the unity of the team as a whole. Each seems perfectly content with his role. Almirola eager to learn, Smith relieved to finally have a full-time ride, Martin thrilled with his scaled back schedule and Truex shining in the spotlight. (quote from FOX Sports) With the combination of these racers, the team believes that they will soon become a key player in the next race seasons of Nascar. It is with this goal that they hope to able to restore the prominence that DEI has enjoyed in the previous years. The team has a perfect combination of driver skills, they have what FOX Sports succinctly describes like this: Martin's knowledge of all things that can go wrong in this sport is complemented by a pair of rookie teammates who believe that nothing will.
Lets hope that DEI will soon be able to restore their glory days on the NASCAR track. With an excellent team such as this, winning is definitely a possibility.
