Mercedes Pens Art Car at Maker Faire 2009

Costas Schuler aka The Pen Guy is a graphic designer, artist, motivational speaker comedian, husband and proud father of three beautiful girls. Life has always been interesting but never quite the same ever since he started working on his Mercedes Pens Art Car now covered in 10,000 pens that was inspired from reading a book called "Art Cars" by author Harrod Blank. Now that the car is pretty much done he has set his sights higher and want to collect a million pens in the next five years to make more pen art.

Art Cars Caught On Google Street View
There are many art cars but only few are chosen to be featured on Google Street View by the all seeing eye. Its pretty amazing and and the same time a bit creepy, especially because I live off the beaten path in the country. Anyways these art cars have achieved yet again another level of fame and this time on the world famous Google Street View. I am excited because my Mercedes Pens Art Car covered in 10,000 was selected along with my mail box and the other lucky art car winners chosen at random. Also featured on Google Street View is the Sticker Car, the Post-it Car,Our Lady of Eternal Combustion, Jesus Chrysler and the The Danger Car.

Nacho Libre Pen Lip Sync by the Pen Guy
I know its totally self serving by this is a great video I did a year ago and I thought it deserved a few more views. I spent all this time making the Mercedes Pens by collecting now over 10,000 pens and gluing them on my art car. One of my pen sources is a little thrift store called pick of the liter and I also do the first ever Nacho Libre Pen Lip Sync.

Mercedes Pens Art Car at Maker Faire 08
Pen Guy with pen covered hard hat and reflective safety jacket photo by thathsI figured now would be a good time to include my very own Mercedes Pens Art Car covered inside and out in close to 7,000 pens of all kinds. Since I just went to Maker Faire 08 in San Mateo, I found a fresh batch of really nice photos of the pen car and my self The Pen Guy on Flick.
Below is a nice shot of the inside of the car with dashboard covered in pens using velcro so I can take them off and rearrange them. As you can see no car is complete with out a pair of fuzzy dice from the rear view mirror and a ton of lanyard pens that now completely block my view in certain spots.
