THE BEATLES COLLECTION: YELLOW SUBMARINE

The Beatles Yellow Submarine, being based on the feature length Yellow Submarine cartoon, featured comic caricature figures of John, Paul, George and Ringo beneath opening front and rear hatches, and a group of four large pericopes that turned as the vessel rolled on its hidden wheels. Early versions were authentic in having one yellow and one white hatch with trime picked out in red and the trim omitted, but overall this 128mm model was a faithful replica.

The last of the Yellow Submarine reproductions, BT78211, is still on sale today. See more The Beatles Collection.

CORGI TOYS - BASIL BRUSH'S CAR

'Basil Brush's Car' (no.808) was based on yet another veteran car, this time the 1/40th scale 1910 Renault. It featured a larger than life figure of Basil at the wheel. Finished in red with a yellow chassis and solid (not spoked) red disc wheels, the model itself boasted no special features, but the inclusion of a seperate sound box with two characteristic laughter tapes was a novel touch to an otherwise staid release. Basil was at the height of his popularity, and the model was available for two years.-- Model Collector.

DOUGAL'S CAR IN MAGIC ROUNDABOUT

This is the classic Corgi Magic Roundabout series to see the 1971/72 catalogue. Utlising the Paramount Tour de France Citroen casting was the bright yellow 'Magic Roundabout Car' (no.807), featuring red whizzwheels, flower decals on bonnet and doors, very well-sculptured figures of Dougal, Brain, and Dylan placed within the red interior. Not an authentic vehicle, so not to any particular scale, but the charm of this popular children's series was well captured. It was to be joined by other Magic Roundabout releases before it was deleated in 1974.

CADILLAC FLEETWOOD 1938 : TINTIN IN TIBET

Tintin in Tibet is one of The Adventures of Tintin, a series of classic comic-strip albums, written and illustrated by Belgian writer and illustrator Herg, featuring the young reporter Tintin as the hero.

Tintin in Tibet is the twentieth book in the series. It is said to have been Herg's favourite of the Tintin series (previously The Secret of the Unicorn), and was written during a personally difficult time in his life, as he was divorcing with his first wife. The story is unlike any previous Tintin books, before or since: there are only a small number of characters and no enemies, villains, spies or gangsters. This adventure revolves around a rescue mission.

It is also unusually emotional for a Tintin story: moments of strong emotion for the characters include Tintin's enduring belief in Chang's survival, the discovery of the teddy bear in the snow, Haddock's attempting to sacrifice himself to save Tintin, Tharkey's return, Tintin's discovery of Chang, and the yeti losing his only friend. Indeed Tintin is seen to cry when he believes Chang's fate, something he is only seen to do twice throughout the entire series (the other occurrence being in The Blue Lotus).

TIN TIN CAR IN THE LAND OF THE SOVIETS

Tintin in the Land of the Soviets is the first of The Adventures of Tintin, a series of classic comic-strip albums written and illustrated by Belgian writer and illustrator Herg. The series features young reporter Tintin as its hero.

Tintin in the Land of the Soviets was published for the first time in Le Petit Vingtime (the children's supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtime Sicle) between 10 January 1929 and 11 May 1930, and appeared in album form in 1930.

The story is a political satire, expressing Herg's distrust of the Soviet Union and poking fun at its claim to have a thriving economy. According to Benot Peeters' book (Le monde d'Herg), the only source used by Herg to create his story was the book entitled Mosco sans voiles (Moscow Unveiled) written by Joseph Douillet, a former Belgian consul in Soviet Russia. For such reasons, Herg decided to withdraw the album from circulation in the 1930s. In 1973, a facsimile edition was launched, that immediately became a best-seller (100,000 copies sold in that year alone).

This diecast car is produced from the real Mercedes Torpedo 1925. This car is in Tintin the Land of the Soviet, paging 9. It is the only early Tintin adventure which Herg did not redraw or colourizes in later years, and, as a result, looks and feels very different from the other books. In this diecast car. Tintin and Snowy are black and white. Oval tires show kept in that it is running with a very high speed. Tintin is wearing a scotch shirt and Snowy is sitting in the car. The position is exactly the same as in cartoon. This car is one of the first three cars that were produced. There is window box. It is collectible for those who love cartoon.

TIN TIN CAR-EDITIONS ATLAS

The Adventures of Tintin is a series of comic books created by Belgian artist Georges Remi (19071983). The series first appeared in French in a children's supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtime Sicle on January 10, 1929. The series has continued as a favourite of readers and critics alike for over 70 years.

The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter and traveller. He is aided in his adventures from the beginning by his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy (Milou in French). Later, popular additions to the cast included the brash, cynical and grumpy Captain Haddock, the bright but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus (Professeur Tournesol in French) and other colourful supporting characters such as the incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson (Dupond et Dupont in French).
The success of the series saw the serialized strips collected into a series of albums (23 in all), spun into a successful magazine and adapted for both film and theatre. The series is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century, with translations published in over 50 languages and more than 200 million copies of the books sold to date.
