Andrea Dovizioso Took First Victory at Donington

Honda Repsol team rider Andrea Dovizioso claimed his first victory in his MotoGP career in a remarkable British GP at Donington circuit. Dovizioso took the race lead after championship leader Valentino Rossi slid off from first spot, before remounting to finish in fifth. However Rossi still extended his points lead because his nearest title rival, Jorge Lorenzo failed to finish and Casey Stoner came home in 14th place following a bad tyre gamble.

Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Colin Edwards came second with Honda LCR's Randy de Puniet third, and Edwards' teammate James Toseland in a career-best equalling sixth place.
