Audi has released more details regarding the A5 and S5 Cabriolets. The four-seater soft top A5 models start at �37,300 and are featured with a range of engine choices in petrol and turbo diesel form.
The petrol engines are an entry level 1.8 TFSI model (not available from launch) making 118kW (160hp). Following that is a 2.0-litre TFSI producing two different power levels; 132kW (180hp) and 320Nm (236.02 lb-ft), and 155kW (211hp) and 350Nm (258.15 lb-ft). A 3.0-litre V6 naturally aspirated engine sits atop of this pile at 195kW (265hp) and 330Nm (243.4 lb-ft). It's front-wheel-driven in standard form but has a 7-speed S Tronic gearbox and quattro AWD as options.
There are 15 exterior colours available with the A5/ S5 range and four for the canvass top. The roof can be lowered in 15 seconds while a neck-heating function allows even for cold open top cruising. Some models will be offered with LED daytime running lights as standard. Interior features include Alcantara leather, Audi Drive Select suspension setting, a new generation MMI and a B&O sound system with a 40GB hard drive, all depending on spec.
Extra sporting types can opt for the S5 Cabriolet which uses a 3.0-litre supercharged engine for 245kW (333hp) and 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft). The supercharger is placed between the two cylinder banks. WCF has learned this form of force-feeding was Audi's second choice to two turbochargers which unfortunately could not physically fit in the same space. The S5 Cab dispatches the 0 - 100km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds.
The diesel members of this family are a 2.0-litre TDI good for 125kW (170hp) and 350Nm (258.15 lb-ft) of torque. It averages 5.6 liters/100 km (42 US mpg) in fuel consumption. Up a step is a 2.7-litre TDI with 140kW (190hp) and 400Nm (295.02 lb-ft). The top of the range A5 diesel is the 3.0-litre TDI with its 176kW (240hp) and 500Nm (368.78 lb-ft).
